Liam is 10 months

Hello 10 months!

• This months photo was quite a challenge since my little man just never wants to stop moving. I thought it would be fun to share the many attempts I had at getting him to lay on the sheep skin.
• About 2 weeks ago Liam really started crawling and hasn't looked back. I'm glad for his new found mobility and wish I had eyes in the back of my head because he has an affinity for open doors.
• Celebrated my first Mother's day this month with Li! It was a delightful day.
• Liam now likes to look at books instead of eating them!
• Exploring the kitchen is a favorite
• He loves being outdoors, whether it be sitting on the porch while we have dinner, going for a stroller ride, biked ride, swing ride or ride on Jason's shoulders!
• He loves our cat, Chips! He squeals in delight at the sight of him, which is why I couldn't resist the shirt he's wearing for his 10 month photo. Chips on the other hand runs away in terror because of one too many fur grabs from Li. We are working on pat gently :)
• His new noises consist of blowing raspberries and makes ssss sounds + paired with his new facial expressions, we can't help but laugh at his antics all day long.

Mother's Day with Liam + Family

This was what my Mother's day looked like this year! Breakfast in bed, a day to sit through the entire church service ( thanks to my husband who wasn't busy doing sound) and then brunch at our place with my family. It's becoming some what of a tradition now. 

I tried my hand at chocolate eclairs for the first time! They came out great! So much easier than I thought they were to make. You can find the recipe here.

I just changed the chocolate on top. I made a chocolate ganche instead. Basically you just heat cream till hot, add chocolate( like chocolate chips or chopped semi-sweet chocolate) and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir and let cool and pipe the chocolate on top of your filled pastry. 

They turned out great!

fish tacos + mojitos + the best salsa

Recently we celebrated the warm weather and sealing up our wooden porch furniture with our first meal outside for the season.

Also made some really fresh tasting, super quick salsa. You really should try it. It's the best I've ever had. Can't wait to make it again this summer but with just picked tomatoes from the garden!

And lastly mojitos! I made a whole pitcher of them this time. Usually we just make them by the glass.This was pretty simple and great for parties or when you want more than one! Yes please.

Mint Mojitos by the Pitcher

1/2 c. mint leaves

6 oz. simple syrup

8 oz. lime juice

8 oz. white rum

1 bottle seltzer

In a glass pitcher add mint, simple syrup and lime juice. Muddle together. Add the rum! This can be made ahead. When ready to serve pour in the seltzer and garnish with a lime!

Liam is 9 months

 

9 months

• It was hard to believe at his 9 month checkup I was getting an appointment card for his next one at 1 year!
• Liam is getting quite good at exploring. While he's not crawling yet, he scoots on his bottom quite well
• We enjoyed having a few visitors this month! Our good friends from Indiana came with their son to visit us for a little while. And Liam's Mom-mom and Aunt came for a short visit as well! We LOVE visitors!
• Liam's first Easter! ( Nana supplied the blue bunny ears)
• We've enjoyed quite a few warm days taking walks, swing rides, first bike rides ( he loved) and sitting on the porch is a new favorite activity!
• He most recently is starting to wave at people ( mostly intentionally we believe)
• Liam is very good at cracking himself up when he's in the right mood. We just laugh and laugh sometimes.
• He loves bath time and we are looking forward to this summer so we can play in the pool!
• Liam has just started to be interested in books. Now he flips through the pages instead of eating them!

Liam is 8 months!

 8 months ( how did this happen)

•  So teething has been a constant around here. Total count so far is 6 going on7 teeth!
• This boy is BUSY! 
• Lots of new sounds like Maaa, Daa, Naa, Yaa and Blah
• Scoots backward on his tummy and rolls all around the room!
• Loves bouncing in his jolly jumper and saucer
• Walks backward in a walker!
• Likes to snuggle after his morning bottle!
• Liam had his first swing ride the other day! He was all smiles as he swung back and forth!
• Looking forward tot he warmer weather so we can go explore outside more!

Ice Cream Scoops Cupcake Cake

I LOVE ice cream! 

So, you can imagine how delighted I was when I got asked to make an ice cream cupcake cake!

What a fun idea for a second birthday!

The very hungry caterpillar cake

 This was a fun project I got to work on for a customer this weekend! I LOVE kids cakes. They are just so whimsical.

 I'm excited and nervous to do my son's first birthday cake because there are so many themes to pick from! I really enjoyed making this caterpillar. For this cake, I have a few "action shots" believe it or not. My husband picked up the camera while I was working. A rare thing these days since I no longer bake in our home, but in my Mom's kitchen. Tomorrow I'll post the other cake I did this weekend.

Liam is 7 months

 7 months old:

• We started out this month with a stomach bug. Poor little guy was sick for almost 8 days. His spirits were pretty good through all of it.
• We got him a high chair finally! Most days he likes to sit in it in the kitchen with me while I make our meals!
• He's starting to eat more foods! Yogurt, sweet potatoes, carrots, eggs and beef most recently.
• A new favorite game is making a tent around him! I think he's going to be a good little camper!
• This little boy thought it would be a good idea to cut his 3 top teeth all at once.
• Liam has learned to make a fish face! It's the best!
• This month he's been able to sit up on his own!
• He likes to talk with his hand over his mouth making fun sounds.
• Liam made me the sweetest valentine with a little help from Daddy :)
• He loves taking walks outdoors when it's not too chilly or windy.
• Rubber ducky is his new favorite toy!
