fall family shoot

we randomly decided to go take some pictures one day at my parents house a few weeks back. they have some corn fields behind their property and we were feeling festive in our autumn clothes as we were on our way to pick out some pumpkins. my niece took some great pictures of us as a family!

Liam is 3 months!

 3 months old!

This little boy is starting to be not so little. Some milestones and highlights of the month included:

• first time sleeping in his crib!
• speaking of sleep... he is sleeping 8 hour stretches. hooray!
• loves to kick his legs all the time. well he loves moving in general. in the morning we find him in his crib completely turned around.
• is fascinated with his hands. looking at them and eating them
• he's becoming a regular chatter box. making all sort of sounds that resemble "whoo"
• starting to giggle ( especially when daddy make his monkey face)
• we had our first long car ride with liam up to the mountains to visit jason's family. he slept most of the way.
• he's just starting to grasp things with his hands and can even hold his own bottle, though i'm not sure he realizes what he's doing yet.
• jason got to pick out his first piece of clothing for liam, the above outfit pictured. (it even glows in the dark). he insists it's not costume but for everyday wear. its' that awesome :)

fall fun

this past monday we went to visit jason's family, a couple hours up north! it was liam's first long car ride! he did great! i spent most of the day with this beautiful lady, taking her senior pictures. we had a blast. this is just a fun little sequence i shot.

golf cake

i'm taking orders again! snacky french has been on maternity leave, but slowly i'm getting back into the swing of things. here's a cake i did recently for a surprise 60th birthday!

raspberry picking

a couple of weeks ago we all went raspberry picking with my mom to brumbaugh's farm. it was a beautiful day and we all had a lot of fun! liam just slept right through it. maybe next year he'll be picking some with us??

Jason's birthday cake!

every year for jason's birthday he asks for a "surprise cake". and every year i ask him if he's sure he doesn't want a particular flavor. it's becoming quite the little tradition! it's always fun for me, because i get to try a new receipe and boy do i have a long list of ones  i'm always wanting to try. so this year was a banana cake with nutella  buttercream. a match made in heaven i do believe. inspired from banana nutella crepes we would often make! it was a hit! he told me he missed his cake after we had eaten it all! this one is a keeper for sure!

Liam is 2 months

 2 months old! well it's been a month of a lot of first for liam!

• first big smiles
• lots of coos! and he likes to cry "maaaa" when he's sad.
• first camp fire
• first time out to eat
• first time alone with nana + pops ( so we could have our first date out to dinner for jason's birthday)
• first time he rolled from tummy to back!
• record number of outfit changes in a 4 hour period! 4 outfits!
• first time at the grocery store ( he even got a sticker)

he loves his swing! in fact he takes his morning nap there most days! he loves being carried around in the ergo. it's his guaranteed napping spot! he loves looking at his birds, whether it be the ones on his car seat or the ones above his bed. he's really beginning to look everywhere, which is why his new favorite hold is the "football hold". he loves to be held at meals... he's a very social little guy! looking forward to all the new ways he surprises and delights us this coming month!

still crafting

i was worried that when i had liam i would have no energy or motivation to keep on making things for fun or necessity. and for the first couple of weeks it wasn't even on my radar. but slowly now, i've been using his afternoon nap time with daddy to make stuff we need, like more cloth wipes for liam and this sling that i'm wearing with him.

i have a soft wrap that he sleeps really well in with me, but i wanted to try out a sling because of it's quick accessibility. the maya slings are beautiful, but pretty pricey, so i got some sling rings, fabric and with the help of these two tutorials ( maya website even tells you how to make your own... so generous) maya and ehow, i was able to fashion my own sling for a lot less. 

as with all things, sometimes he likes being in it, sometimes he doesn't, but i had fun making it and when he has a bit more head control i think it will be a great way to hang out together!

Liam is 1 month old

 

it's been a whole month since our little bear cub was born! he has more nicknames now than ever! our most favorite is "little lee"!

he's had many visitors, which has been a lot of fun catching up with people we love and having them meet liam for the first time!

some highlights of our first month were his first bath, first stroller ride, first smile and dimple, first time to nana and pops ( my parents) and first time to church!

he grew taller and finally gained some more weight. he's a little string bean for sure!

he's been sleeping through the night pretty good, but only naps if he's being held or carried around in the wrap. he likes to be cuddled, what can i say?

he's a delight! we are so in love! i can't wait to see what this next month holds.

back on the trail!

we've been enjoying taking walks again... now that my ankle swelling has gone down considerably! liam loves walks. he likes to stare up at the trees. not that he can see them, but i like to think he can.

happy weekend. we'll be enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. walks, outdoor dinners and porch swinging for sure!
